Media Profile named Ontario Living Wage Employer

Media Profile, Canada’s largest independent public relations agency and Strategy’s 2016 PR Agency of the Year, has been certified as a Living Wage Employer.
The Ontario Living Wage Network recognized the agency at the Champion level for its commitment to paying all employees, including interns, a living wage.
“The PR industry has a shameful reputation for taking advantage of free labour by hiring interns and not paying them for their work – work which is often equivalent to a salaried, entry-level, employee,” said Alison King, President, Media Profile. “Since our inception in 1985, we have always believed in paying people for the work they do. This is part of our culture of fostering a dedicated and healthy workforce – one where all people deserve to be paid fairly and treated with respect.”
Twenty-eight communities across Ontario are participating in local living wage initiatives and Media Profile is one of more than 100 companies in the province committed to paying a living wage which, in Toronto, is $18.52/hour. Living Wage Employers are responsible employers who care about their employees and the community. They recognize that paying a living wage constitutes a critical investment in the long–term prosperity of the economy.
